The Real
Tamale United midfielder and also formal Ashanti Gold Midfielder David Abagna
Sandan who also doubles as the current season leading scorer in the Ghana premier league
has taken a bold decision to apologize to Ghanaians and lovers of the Black
stars and on behalf of his team mates for the disappointing performance in the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) in Cameroon which
is been played this year as a result of the COVID19 Pandemic. He has also assured Ghanaians that they will do their best to put the black were it belong (top level).
The black
stars were camped in Dubai where they were training whiles waiting for the arrivals
of Ghanaian footballers playing in the European leagues. During their stay in Dubai
the black stars played a friendly match with the defending champions Algeria
which they lost massively by three goals to nil.
The black
stars was drawn in the same group with Gabon, Comoros and Morocco. They played
their first match against Morocco which they lost by two (2) goals to one (1)
followed by their second game against Gabon which it ended with a one one
draw.
The black
stars were left with one point after two matches were they were now hoping to
win in their last group match which was against the Comoros in other to qualify
to the round of 16 with 4 points, but unfortunately for the black stars they
lost by 3 goals to 2. Which ended up eliminating Ghana from the tournament.
Below is
the statement from the Midfielder;
“It's
always an honour to represent our country, not the performance we expected, we
hold our hands up and apologise to the nation for letting them down. Ghana
deserves better from us and we are sorry, we will continue to work hard and put
Ghana back to where she belongs.
God bless our homeland.
God Got Us
All”
